New Jersey Statewide Student Support Services is an innovative hub-and-spoke model of services and resources to support youth mental wellness.

- Physical violence is when a person hurts or tries to hurt a partner by hitting, kicking, or using another type of physical force.
- Sexual violence is forcing or attempting to force a partner to take part in a sex act, sexual touching ,or a non-physical sexual event (e.g. sexting) when the partner does not or cannot consent.
- Stalking is pattern of repeated, unwanted attention and contact by partner that causes fear or concern for one's own safety or the safety of someone close to the victim.
- Psychological aggression is the use of verbal and non-verable communication with the intent to harm a partner mentally or emotionally and/or to exert control over a partner.
What are some examples of victim blaming?
- "You were askign for it by dressing that way."
- "You should have known better than to get drunk."
- "You should have fought back harder."
- "As a woman, you need to submit to your man."
- "Boys will be boys."
- "Are you sure you said no?"
- "You must have provoked them."
- "Women should be kept in their place."
- "You shouldn't have had so much to drink."
Examples of Gaslighting Behavior:
- Denying that an event took place, even if there is evidence to prove it.
- Lying and contradicting what the victim knows to be true.
- Making the victim feel like they are crazy or overreacting.
- Making the victim doubt their memory and perception.
- Manipulating the victim's environment to make them question their reality.
