Proper evaluation and understanding the treatment measures of the various developmental disabilities are key to success in the child who may be struggling academically. This presentation will provide a brief overview of unrecognized developmental disabilities in children that may impact their academic performance and how a parent can be proactive to help their child. 

 

Dr. Mehrotra, a board-certified pediatrician in private practice and an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Pediatrics at Rutgers – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the Rutgers School of Public Health, is the founder and medical director of My Whole Child Pediatrics, a multi-physician, multi-location pediatric practice. He has a special interest in child development and early intervention. His practice philosophy utilizes his interest in complementary and alternative medicine to bring an integrated approach to improving a child's health.

Practicing in central New Jersey, Dr. Mehrotra is dedicated to improving the health of all but especially those who have recently immigrated to this country. He helped found the SKN Foundation, a community-based non-profit organization that seeks to improve disease prevention and management at a grassroots level. He is also involved with SKN SCOPE, an outreach program that brings together families with special needs children for social and education events and "Move It to Lose It," which utilizes ethnic dance to encourage physical activity to prevent childhood obesity.

In Delhi, India, Dr. Mehrotra created the My Whole Child Center for Special Needs to educate the locals about child development and serve the indigent population by providing free therapeutic services for special needs children.
