In this multidisciplinary talk conducted virtually, Drs. Nissenblatt and Soffen will conduct a comprehensive review of the diagnosis, treatment, and management of gynecological cancers. Topics include:

  • Common types of cancers found in women: ovarian, uterine, cervical
  • Causes of ovarian and fallopian cancers, and uterine and cervical cancers
  • The roles of the surgeon, oncologist, and radiation oncologist in managing gynecologic cancers
  • The role of vaccines in preventing cervical cancer
  • The role of radiation in uterine and cervical cancer
  • Systemic treatments for gynecological cancers: chemo and non-chemo options.

Michael Nissenblatt, MD received his medical degree from Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons, New York. He completed his residency in medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore and his fellowship in medical oncology at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore. Dr. Nissenblatt has received many honors, including Top Doctor in Jersey Choice, New Jersey Monthly, New York Magazine and New Jersey Monthly Magazine; St. George National Award of the American Cancer Society; Best Doctors in America; The Burton L. Eichler Award, Humanitarian Contribution Recognition; Arnold P. Gold Foundation Award for Humanism in Medicine; Top Doctors New York Metro Area by Castle Connolly. Dr. Nissenblatt is also a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, New Brunswick, NJ. He is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology.

Edward Soffen, MD received his Bachelor of Arts degree in biology, graduating Phi Beta Kappa, from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, before obtaining his medical degree and his selection to Alpha Omega Alpha Society from Temple University School of Medicine, Philadelphia. He completed his residency in radiation oncology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. Dr. Soffen served on the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania and at Fox Chase Cancer Center. He is currently on the faculty of Rutgers University Medical School, New Brunswick, New Jersey. He has authored numerous publications and has received many awards including being selected by his peers as a “Top Doctor” in New Jersey for over 15 years, and as one of the “Best Doctors in America”.
